What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book grew out of an actual experience my husband and I had while shopping in a second hand shop in Palm Springs, California and the adventure that ensued.
The shop was filled with upscale revamped furniture, artwork and clothing. It was a cute little place tucked into the corner of a rather antiquated strip mall. Entering the shop through a side door, we strolled the aisles, happy to be inside and out of the 110 degree temperatures. As I neared the front counter, I spotted a painting and instantly fell in love with. From that moment on, no matter where I walked in the shop, I kept returning to the painting. In short, it drew me in, capturing my heart and stirring my imagination.
After a little bit of persuasion, I convinced my husband that we should buy it… and so we did.
At home, the painting hung over the piano in our family room for over a year before my husband became curious about the setting this painting had so beautifully captured. He went to work scouring the internet to find out more and was soon sharing stories with me about the artist and the city captured in paint – Bergen, Norway.
The next thing I knew my husband had booked us on a Viking Cruise with a two day stopover in Bergen, Norway. We spent a couple of wonderful days learning all about the city’s history, traveling through colorful docks, fish markets and city streets. We took the Funicular up and visited the hillside where Trolls are said to roam and magic abounds. And I listened to tales about the witches of Norway. This is when my mind began percolating and my story was born.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My characters in this book are based upon people I met during our trip. I also love to collect unusual names and heard the last name Cinnamon at a graduation. I knew that I had to use it in one of my books. Finally, I like creating characters who are a combination of personalities I’ve met over the years.

PROLOGUE
Whenever my world silences for even a moment
and the only sound I can hear is the beating of my own heart,
I reflect back on all that has happened to me
overwhelmed by a sense of wonder.
The hows and whys no longer matter,
only the memories are important.
In the end,
I succeeded in my quest
to find a hidden treasure,
one that I had no way of knowing
was already mine…
