What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I've been an avid reader all my life, and mysteries are my favorite. The ideas for the stories and characters in the Liz Adam Mystery Series often come to me while I journal in the mornings. Charleston SC, Private Investigator Liz Adams' home, is one of my favorite places in the world. Carmel-by-the-Sea holds a special place in my heart. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows there.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Liz's sidekick, Duke, was actually inspired by our own Labrador retriever, Eve. Although she can't detect when people aren't telling the truth, she's a communicator. She howls the words 'I love you' for her breakfast in the morning.
In the first book, Charleston Conundrum, our dear friends and former neighbors, Tony and Linda, asked to be in the story. I'm currently working on Cayman Conundrum. The police commissioner, Aaron Holmes, is loosely based on another friend who wanted to be included.
Most of my characters are a mixture of the many people I've met over the years and my imagination.
