I interviewed the writers before I read The Waymor and had high expectations for it. I wasn’t disappointed! The fact that two men can write very wonderful, strong female characters kindof amazed me. I find the story to be thought provoking and interesting in the presentation of the characters and their growth through the initially short period of time the book covers. It’s a book about how a night at a jazz club can be way more than you bargained for, and how the actions of one night can change lives. There is a strong sense of faith through the book, and it wasn’t overdone, it was just right. It’s a book about people and music and how lives intertwine. I’m looking forward to a sequel and a movie!
In our interview, Will Smith I said that one of his hopes and purposes for being interviewed was to get the word out to other retired people that with the new ease of publishing that they should follow their dreams to tell their stories, either real or make believe. That is a hope that I have as well, and that I try to show through BookGoodies, people can show next generations about the past by storytelling, and by telling real stories or fiction based on reality.
What I liked most about this book was the setting and the way the storytelling wasn’t preachy but in the end you realized that faith and music interact in a beautiful way to make lives change.
From the website:
She’d had enough.
She’d been parked several doors down from his house since she left The Waymor: a jazz club where the mesmerizing sounds of: Marvin, Lucky, Kenny and Perry – the men behind the music – stirs passion, shake convictions and blows a familiar tune of betrayal and deception. Take a few steps down the stairs towards the laughter, smoke-filled room and “feel good” jazz. Meet Shirley, Crystal, Mary and Emily at The Waymor. Find out why friends and desires collide; what really matters in their lives and how far will they go to win at this crazy game we call love. Will they be triumphant? Will it end in tragedy? Or will they experience a roller coaster ride of emotions, events and drama that will change their lives forever?
