It is the first in trilogy. The second book is available as an eBook and will soon be released in audio format, narrated by Mike Paine. Be sure to check out his work on “A Stormy Night” as well.
Audible offers trial or discounted memberships often so you can enjoy them for free or at a discount if you wish. For Audible members, my books so far only cost one credit.
It is captivating to listen to. The producer did an amazing job of changing accents and pitch so that you’re never unsure of who is speaking. I’m very proud of it.
I’d really like feedback, both on the book itself, and on the audio experience. I have two other thriller novels and this first audio-book is an experiment to find out if there is an audience sufficient to make those other thriller novels into audio books, too.
My goal is to not just move the characters forward but to give them true lives to live. Audio deepens my understanding of them.
Publishers Weekly: “In her delightful debut, Balzo puts a 21st-century spin on the traditional cozy, replacing tea with coffee as the comfort beverage of choice. Readers will want to curl up with this winner with a cappuccino or maybe even a Viennese cinnamon latte.”
Chicago Tribune: “…as wonderfully rich and sharply written as anything going. What moves Balzo’s book high above other writers who try to cover the same territory is a sharp and often amusing skill that convinces us that this is real life, and that it matters.”
I am not sure I can adequately express the feeling of hearing this story told. I thought an audio book would feel a bit anticlimactic. After all, I knew who these characters were, I knew the story, I knew how it ended and yet I found myself caught up as if I it was unfolding for the first time. That was an amazing experience.
I don’t know how long it will last, but Amazon is offering the first episode, Valley End High for $1.99 when you buy the eBook for $0.99. Since most audiobooks start around $7, this is a phenomenal deal. Also, for Audible members it can be had for one member credit.

I have provided the first six chapters – both written and in MP3 format on my website. I have heard back from followers that when listening to the MP3 and then reading along, the book takes on a whole new aspect. The audiobook is unabridged, which means that the reading is word for word from the book…it is a treat to hear the different characters speak or to hear the emotion during the dialog. Try it and let me know what you think. See my link below.
Question to ask: How long is your audiobook? 13 hrs and 31 minutes.
I would encourage everyone to check out the sample on the books Amazon page. Even if you are not a sci-fi fan, LYCCYX has something for you. There is action, adventure, romance, political intrigue, environmental themes and much more.
